WOULD LOOSING WEIGHT HELP MY CONDITION?
It all depends on what the "condition" is. What weight you are and what you do with your life. If you have a bad neck then losing weight will not necessary help that condition (Although any excessive weight is not good). If the problem is in the Thoracic area and you are over weight then the pull from your arms can certainly cause problems. But if you have a lower back pain then any extra weight will play a vital role in retarding the improvement of the Lumbar or Sciatic pain. Basically the lower down the body the problem is the more extra weight will have an effect on it. Therefore in a knee or ankle condition, excessive weight will always cause a problem and aggravate the injury. But remember that if you try to lose weight you must always do some form of exercise. Because you will not only lose body fat but muscle bulk will be lost as well so that when you put weight on again - fat. You will only have succeeded in losing muscle bulk in other words you will have slimmed to get fat. WHAT IS ARTHRITIS? It is said that there are over 600 different forms of Arthritis. Ranging from the most common, Osteoathritis, is the most common with Rheumatoid arthritis the second most common, Going through to something like Lupus, which although fortunately is rare, it is fatal. Osteoathritis generally affects individual joints and is mostly due to some form of injury or wear and tear mainly occurring later on in life. I believe initially the muscles of that joint constrict and pull the joint tighter together. The fluid in the joint dries up and the bones rub together wearing away the protective cartilage, as the body cannot replace this, the bone can become thick and distorted. Diet and massage can definitely ease the problem (depending on its severity). Rheumatoid Arthritis is totally different. This is a systemic condition and can be detected in the blood by seeing if there is R factor present. If you get Rheumatoid Arthritis in one joint you will most certainly get it in the corresponding joint on the other side i.e. Right thumb - Left thumb etc. There is not enough space to mention the other forms, as I say there are over 600. WILL A SACRO/ILLIAC CONDITION STOP ME FROM RUNNING? A lot of runners and joggers ask me this question. The answer is that it could do. The simple reason is that as we walk (and run) the muscles in the buttocks that we use to move make cause a slightly rotating action of the Pelvic girdle on the sacrum. If the ligaments holding the Sacrum in place are not as they should be, then they are unable to hold the sacrum in its correct position causing the Ileum (main pelvic bone) to not seat in its natural place therefore causing pain.
